How can alternatives help in our daily lives?

Seven Handmade Alternatives for these everyday product-

An ant killer-

At first we have to boil water and then put it into an empty jar then we have to add sugar and borax until it doesn’t dissolves completely. Then we have to soak small cotton balls and place it wherever we find the chances of ants coming. After a complete day we can place that in our kitchen, park, car and wherever there are chances for ants to come. Borax is a very natural pesticide and is obtained from boric acid.It should be kept out of the reach of kids.

Dishwasher detergent with lemons-

Cut the lemons into thick slices and make sure that the seeds are removed from it. Place the lemons on the water surface and then allow it to get boiled. Add water if needed and check till it’s syrupy and lemons are very tender. Now strain the lemon mixture back into your saucepan using a small strainer kr a medium one.

For washing the dishes fill the dishwasher detergent with fresh lemon gel.Use about three tablespoons of detergent. The citric acid in the lemons helps to clean mineral deposits and extracts.Lemon has antibacterial properties.

Homemade Soap-

The soaps we get from the market are loaded with artificial colors and artificial fragrances. If we make our own homemade soaps it would be without any additives and healthy for our skin. Most if the people have sensitivitie skin. Making our own soap allows us to customize ingredients to our needs accordingly.

A simple bread loaf pan will work depending on how much soap one is melting. We have to line the mold with parchment paper for easy removaland silicone molds work well too. These come in fun shapes and sizes like flower and also many different shapes. We will need parchment paper if we choose the bread mold pan option.Plant powders will double as they act as natural colorants.Adding turmeric to the soap gives it a lovely orange colour and adds skin nourishing qualities. Spirulina powder adds a lovely green colour to it.Oatmeal offers a nice exfoliating quality. Himalayan pink salt adds a nice pink hue.Essential oils carry the hand milling process quite well so we can pick a scent we enjoy and have fun.

Homemade Wax for hair removal-

For this we have to take the sugar in a saucepan and add water just to immerse it. Adding more water will lead to non conversion of wax and the flame should be kept at medium heat and stirred well till the sugar gets dissolved completely and have to add lemon juice or vinegar and keep stirring till a wax like consistency is made up.This may take around fifteen to twenty minutes. When the required consistency is reached,we have to take the wax from the saucepan and let it cool at the room temperature. Now the homemade wax is ready. We can make this whenever we feel lazy to go to the parlour. If someone is just like me who likes to make lots of homemade beauty stuff, you can go ahead with this process. One can even prepare some wax earlier and heat it when you need them for any purpose further. You can store this in your refrigerator or in a cool place. If we keep this in the freezer it will be too difficult to melt it down. The skin feels so soft and gives a comfortable touch similar to the salon or parlour.

Homemade lip balm-

Combine two oils with good fragrance in a small bowl and add the vanilla extract (or other essential oil of your choice). Melt the beeswax in a microwave safe bowl so that it doesn’t gets sticked.Add the other ingredients like chocolate chips and heat again until both are fully melted. Combining the beeswax and mixture of chocolate chip with the oil what we have chosen and have to stir it well. Now,quickly transfer to a clean container and wait for it to solidify for the best use.

Air Freshener-

Cut any fruits, like mixture of two, here let’s take oranges and grapefruit .We have to keep it in a bowl then trasfer it into a small saucepan.Adding few spices, extracts, and herbs like cinnamon, rosemary, thyme, cloves and so on will provide the requirements to its best. Then fill the pot with water and cover it with a lid and allow it to boil.Once it reaches the boiling point, reduce the flame to low and simmer—with the lid off.You can let the pot simmer for hours on end then continually adding liquid to prevent the ingredients from burning. When you’ve had enough, you can cool down the jar liquid and refrigerate (once cooled),(stick it in the freezer to speed this up). Use within two-threemonths.Keep in mind that some fruits, spices and herbs hold up better than others for prolonged periods of time.
