JMI and JNU Release Revised Academic Calendar

Recently, UGC (University Grants Commission) came out with guidelines regarding the revised academic calendar due to the coronavirus outbreak. Following these guidelines Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have released revised academic calendar for their monsoon semester.

As per the revised calendar issued by JNU, students will be allowed to return to campus by June end. The winter semester classes are set to resume between June 25 to June 30.Currently, Online Classes and Teacher training learning programmes are conducted by the University, along with open-to-all lectures on the subject of coronavirus.

Winter semester will be held till July 31, which includes semester exams and results as well. For the monsoon semester, provisional registration (for enrolled students) will begin from July 25. Classes will begin from August 31 for the enrolled students.

According to the UGC guidelines, the university has provided a window where students can submit their thesis and dissertations. For Mphil, Mtech and PhD students, the thesis Registration deadline has been extended till December 31st.

Admission process will begin from August 1 and classes from September 1, but further details regarding this have not been shared yet. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is the exam conducting body, has kept the application link open for entrance exams for JNU – JNUEE.

JMI and JNU

On Wednesday, JMI held its Academic Council (AC) meeting on Google Meet. This was attended by Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar, Dean’s and other members of the council. They have decided to adopt UGC’s guidelines. The guidelines said that the Semester will begin in August for already enrolled students and For Freshers, it will begin in September.

“Examination for only final semester/year students will be held offline between July 1 to July 31 in the university. Students are requested to submit online examination forms as early as possible,” the varsity said.

Online classes will take place till 31st May, which were earlier scheduled to be finished by April 30. Summer vacations will start from June 15 and continue till June 30, it said. Last day to submit assignments has been extended to June 5 and teachers are requested to upload internal assessment marks by June 15 on the website of the Controller of examinations of the University.

The last date to submit online application forms for the session 2020-21 has been extended to May 31. Entrance test will take place in August.

Students of Delhi University are also eagerly waiting for guidelines by the University.
