Delhi University recently released a notice regarding adopting of open book examinations (OBE) as an alternative mode of examinations for final year/term/semester students if the situation does not appear to be normal in the view of COVID-19. Many students, teachers and other stakeholders have been against this proposal, due to many reasons. One of were inconvenience caused to students belonging to PWD category, especially visually impaired. They might not have the facilities and equipments to comfortably give OBE and thus they might be at a disadvantage.
In order to deal with this issue, on 15th May, 2020, the university released a notice for colleges to furnish detailed data of student belonging to divyaang (PWD) category, particularly visually impaired, Studying in final year/term/semester.
This data is to be mail latest by 27th may, 2020 so that necessary arrangements can be made to conduct the propose alternative examination smoothly for student under the said category with utmost care.
It also said to assign a person from their facility/department/college/centre/School of Open learning (SOL) and Non collegiate women education board (NCWEB) to contact these students. They are to know about their availability after 25th June, 2020 with the name of the station and the position of facility to access Internet and available devices for downloading and uploading answer sheets, if required.
It also ensured that University will extend all support and facility as per rule and policies applicable so that these students can attempt their examinations comfortably. All date sheets and guidelines duly notified by examination branch may be communicated to these students to their registered mobile and email IDs. They are also advised to visit the official website of University of Delhi, ie, www.du.ac.in for all updates related with examinations. Their queries related with examinations can be immediately forwarded to examination branch email, [email protected] and in case of SOL students to [email protected]
