National Strike called by the Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA) for Dignified Employment!

The beginning of the new year marked the beginning of the DUTA’s anger over the non-action of the VC on the issue of the DU subcommittee recommendations on the UGC Regulations.
Earlier, it was witnessed that the meeting of the Academic Council was scheduled for 2nd January.
DUTA team protested outside the Jawahar Vatika which was later locked. The DUTA team was not allowed to go inside the VC office.
Delhi University professors were outside the VC office since early morning and waiting to meet him. Even, the elected Union of professors were not being allowed to go inside the VC office.
 
“With VC office doors shut for common teachers, no option was left but to give breakfast to the AC members through the fence.” said the teachers protesting.
Later, the AC members continued protesting inside the VC office while the teachers were in a strong protest outside.
DUTA plans another major protest on 8th and 9th January.  Their major demands include:
• Resolve reservation issue through Ordinance.
• Regularize/ Absorb Ad-hoc and Temporary teachers.
• Withdraw UGC/MHRD Letters of 3.3.2016 and 13.1.2017.
• Release pension.
• Remove the DU Vice Chancellor.
Also, All India Student’s Association (AISA)  came forward and extended its support to DUTA’s protest.
“In solidarity and support with the National Strike called by the workers for dignified Employment!
We Appeal the student community to extend their full support to DUTA’s strike in campus!” said, Kawalpreet Kaur, AISA activist.
