In a bid to offer students a broader array of academic options and foster cultural diversity, Delhi University (DU) has introduced new undergraduate courses in Russian Studies, marking a significant expansion of its subject offerings.
Delhi University has updated its undergraduate admissions process, unveiling a novel undergraduate program in Russian Studies. Those keen on applying must submit their applications by April 10, 2024, using CUET UG 2024. As per the institute’s bulletin released on March 29, 2024, students can now select six subjects for their undergraduate degree, encompassing languages. Allocation of seats will be conducted via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Department
The department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies will oversee the undergraduate program spanning three years. This curriculum will equip students with comprehensive skills in speaking, reading, and writing the Russian language fluently. Additionally, they will delve into various aspects of Russian History, Literature, and Culture to foster a profound understanding of Russia and its language.
In the academic session of 2023, the University of Delhi (DU) consolidated its subject offerings by merging the A and B categories. This restructuring empowers students to select a language along with a minimum of three additional subjects from a pool of 27 options available within DU’s curriculum.
This year, candidates applying through the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) can vie for one of the 71,000 seats across 79 undergraduate programs offered in 68 different colleges affiliated with DU. Within these programs, students will have access to over 1500 subjects, facilitating diverse academic pursuits.
DU’s admission process admits numerous students through nationally recognized tests like the CUET and university-conducted entrance exams such as the Common Entrance Test (CET). The university is also contemplating the integration of CUET scores for admission into postgraduate programs.
In addition to Russian Studies, DU has also expanded its list of subject choices across various disciplines, offering students a wider range of options to pursue their academic interests. From niche subjects to interdisciplinary courses, the university is committed to providing students with a holistic educational experience that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st century.
