DU Academic council holds meeting to discuss on admission process amidst present conditions

DU’s Academic Council is expected to take out momentous decisions as it meets today and decide on matters like eligibility, online courses and admissions amid present circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from the prevailing circumstances the discussion regarding increasing 15% seats is also under consideration this year. Last year, the university was asked to reserve seats for the EWS quota. The varsity is expected to increase the total number of sears to ensure the same. The same is also part of the meeting’s agenda today.

In 2019, the university had increase the seats only by 10% to implement the quota. The remaining increase was to be completed in this academic year. Also, with the coronavirus outbreak, the council is also expected to make recommendations for changing the admission process to partially to fully online .

Till 2019, for admissions to Delhi University, students were required to fill the online application forms on the website. After the release of the cut offs, the students were then required to pay the fee online. However, document verification process is still offline and students were required to travel to the respective colleges to secure the admissions.

This year, however, the process may be moved completely online. The council, however, would have to decide on the way of doing the same. Also, the council needs to finalize the process of admission to Sports, ECA category and other quota seats which require interviews or trials
