Board Exams For Class 10th And 12th To Be Conducted In July First Week

The board exams of CBSE class 10th and 12th for 29 subjects will be held in the first two weeks of July. After a long delay due to the ongoing lockdown, the HRD ministry has finally announced to conduct the board exams.

The country went into lockdown with the board exams for certain subjects still pending. The exams for over 80 subjects are to be held. But the school education board has decided that exams will be held only for 29 main subjects. This would speed up the evaluation process and complete the exam formalities. It will also enable the students to apply for admission to colleges.

The remaining papers for class 12 include – business studies, geography, Hindi (core), Hindi (elective), home science, sociology, computer science (old), computer science (new), information practice (old), information practice (new), information technology and biotechnology.

Minister of Human Resource and Development (HRD), Ramesh Pokhriyal had earlier announced the dates for JEE Main, NEET. The JEE Main will be conducted between July 18 and 23. And the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is scheduled to be conducted on July 26. The JEE Advanced will be held on August 23. The dates for other entrance exams like UGC NET and IGNOU be announced soon. Pokhriyal also administered the CBSE to ease the checking of answer sheets by teachers in their respective states.

There are a total number of 18,89,878 candidates in Class 10 and 12,06,893 in class 12 this year. Out of these, there are 788195 girls, 1101664 boys, and 19 transgenders in class 10 while there are 5,22,819 girls, 684068 boys, and 6 transgenders in class 12 who are appearing for CBSE board exams this year. The exams started in February but were delayed due to the nationwide lockdown.
