The “7th National Hijra Habba” : An event by India HIV/AIDS Alliance

7th National Hijra Habba i.e “Seventh National Hijra Habba” is being organised by India HIV/AIDS Alliance on September 11, 2018 and September 12, 2018 in Select CityWalk Mall, Saket, India. The aim of the event is to mobilize transgender communities and open up new gateways for them.

Since 2011, Alliance India (www.allianceindia.org) (a non-governmental organisation working in partnership with civil society, communities, and government to support sustained responses to HIV in India that protect rights and improve access to health) organises an annual event ‘Hijra Habba’ on various themes to increase visibility of transgender people and influence stakeholders to support empowerment, rights, access to services and responsive policies for transgender community.

This year, the public event will focus on the assertion of their identity – ‘Born This Way!’. The event will showcase the first ever ‘Transgender Life Exhibition: Trans awareness village’ which will give the mainstream society a platform to interact and understand the socio-political, economic and legal issues. It will also generate a discussion with key stakeholders and will include performances by various transgender artists across India.
