Yes, many of you might be unaware of the fact that August 12 is celebrated as the “International Youth Day” every year. August 12 is declared as the “International Youth Day” by United Nations to draw awareness about cultural and legal issues surrounding the youth of the day. The theme for this year’s International Youth Day is ‘Safe Spaces for Youth’. For the first time, the day was observed as International Youth Day on August 12, 2018.
Apart from public spaces, youth is encouraged to share opinions and participate over virtual free spaces, across borders and help accommodate youth across the world which is vulnerable to violence and marginalization.
The UN has taken this initiative to drive attention towards youth development and protection and the areas that include education, employment, environment, HIV/AIDS, girls and young women, and intergenerational relations.
