Careers To Satisfy Your Wanderlust!

Career options for all the travel enthusiasts to satisfy their wanderlust!

“20 years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do,than the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor and catch the trade winds in your sails.”  Are you among the ones who believe in the above lines? Hate the traditional 9 to 5 job? Not very much into desk job? But,love travelling? Besides, you don’t like the idea of settling and then ending up in the same place for years? Don’t worry! The field of travel and tourism is for you. Here are a few career options that you may take up.

  1. Travel writer

If you want to travel different corners of the world and share your experience via your blogs, articles or books, then being a travel writer will be a perfect career option for you. Writing about the adventures you experienced, some do’s and don’ts, a few survival tips and the food and culture of the place, are a few things that you would be required to include in your piece of writing.

  1. Travel show host

For a travel enthusiast, nothing can be better than getting paid for travelling. This is basically the job of a travel show host. They are required to travel different places, do a bit of research about the area and share their travel experience on a TV show or web series. For this, a degree in mass communication generally lies as the basic eligibility criterion.

  1. Tour guide

How about exploring a particular place in and out, researching a bit of its history and guiding the tourists about the whole place? A tour guide is the person who comes to our rescue when we’re out in a new place. They organise trips to various places, take a bunch of tourists with them and guide them with places throughout the trip.

  1. Photographer

Besides being a travel fanatic, are you good with the lenses too? Then, you may try being a photographer, cinematographer or a cameraman, either as a freelancer or even with a show or crew. Remember Ranbir Kapoors role as Bunny in Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani in the second half of the film? Yes,he was a videographer. Cool enough, isn’t it?

  1. Diplomats

Its a much sought-after job since it offers a pretty handsome package to the people. Besides, this deals with some serious work too and you need to crack the civil services exams for getting into this field. But yeah, once you’re into this, you would hold a rather prestigious position as an individual and would be required to protect the nation’s interest abroad.
