DU ELECTIONS IS A HARSH TRUTH

WHAT ARE DU ELECTIONS- THE WORD “DU ELECTIONS” SOUNDS FASCINATING AND ADVENTUROUS BUT IS IT?

Students of DU eagerly waiting for DU Elections to take part in politics.

Being a part of any institution, student faces a slight or huge dilemma, to make the studentĀ  relief, the college provides some volunteer or candidate who conveys problem to the staff.

So for choosing the candidate who can fulfil all the requirements of students, DU conducts an election.

Two layers of elections at Delhi University, one at the college level and the other is on the university level. Subtle and extensive organizationsĀ  like ABVP and NSUI provide tickets to the candidate based on one’s accomplishments and achievements.

It may be influenced by academic background, popularity at the college level or anybody who can stimulate students easily.

PARTIES AGENDAS DURING DU ELECTIONS

Candidates promisedĀ  about campus hygiene, on the other hand, they overrun their pamphlets all over the campus. They talk about peace and a better environment for study and then their supporters are responsible for disturbing the lectures.

Some genuine agendas like 24*7 open libraries, focus on hostel’s room conditions, room rent control acts, better companies for placements, improvement of infrastructure, conduct fests.

This committee provides some guidelines that help in free and fair elections.

It states, a candidate should not spend more than 5000 Rs in an election campaign, ironically candidates spend more than 50 lakhs of the amount, feed students with pizzas, burgers, alcohol. To gain more votes. It means plentiful candidates,Ā  will going to win.

Also states that candidate must use only handmade pamphlet in a limited amount –Ā  not even followed. Candidates distorted their names like VIKASĀ named VIKAAS so that no one can legally challenge them.

Students prefer NOTA rather than any political party with fake promises. On account of traffic jams, class disturbance. make students take less part in politics

Some believe, take part in college politics is a good opportunity, or it’s a waste of time and energy.
