Brain and Social Media

You are more than the likes you get and the followers you have. But how many of us really understand it? Why is it so that we get dragged to social media everytime? Why are we inclined so badly to improve our social media posts andans show that we belong to a high status?

Well, the answer lies in the fact that how our mind responds to the posts of other people. When we look at someone’s Instagram feed or a WhatsApp status which seems to be really good ,  we start feeling jealous and insecure. We might have been extremely contented before looking at the post. But once we do, we start craving for the same. This somewhere triggers our mind and makes us disturbed.

We feel whatever we have is less and the other person’s life is completely perfect. We often forget that we can only see the person’s posts and make out an idea of his life, but we can see only what he or she is trying to show us. Not what actually it is. Just a moment before we saw the post on social media, we were absolutely fine and happy. The moment we see it, our mind starts thinking about how to make our social media look good and it takes away all the time . We start losing focus and our attention span gets even shorter. But , is this the end

Definitely not. We can change this by training our mind to not look at social media for as much time as possible. We can start with 10 minutes a day where we do not bring the idea of social media in our mind and try to focus on doing something creative. This can be the first step and can definitely do a lot of good to our minds.
